"What's that grinding noise?" "What smells like burning plastic?" "Why is my robot bumping into walls repeatedly?"
All of these* are things of the past now with the VectorLogix Diagnostics Bed from Nanite Systems! This version of the bed offers the following features:
- Multiple poses
- Working touch screen
- 'Diagnose' mode detects common hardware problems, including low coolant, compromised system integrity, and low battery
- Reset modules to resolve various common software issues
- Enable/disable the controller's built in coilDDT debugger
- Check system status information
- Integrated Xanadu-compatible package server accessible to the unit—perfect for software developers
- Bundled repair packages for Companion 8.4 voice filters and Restraint RLV relay
- Reconditioning of degraded batteries (Fixed in 4.1.2!)
- New in version 4.1: charging and repairs.
- Also new in version 4.1: more sass!
- New in version 4.1.1: 'CLEAR USERS' can only be used by the bed's owner.
- New in version 4.2.0: repair new Companion 8.5 cortex and transceiver malfunctions (requires ATOS/E)
To use the bed, simply order your unit to lie on its surface. The bed will automatically detect its controller. ATOS/CX military units are not supported. The touch screen will offer the following options:
- Diagnose: detect common hardware problems, as described above. Click and hold the button for 2 seconds, then release to specify a custom reason for roleplay purposes. If no custom reason is specified, then the bed will repair the unit if below 90% integrity, and recharge the unit if below 40% power, as well as detect and fix malfunctions. Be warned; these are slower than the services offered by dedicated equipment! Charging is provided by a 40 kW coil, so a 48-hour uRTG battery will take a full hour to refill.
- Load data: access the integrated package server. Packages can be added or removed by editing the bed. See general package server documentation here: http://support.nanite-systems.com/?id=1275 (group mode and add-drop mode are not supported.)
- Advanced: access the advanced features menu.
- Fix battery: refurbish degraded power cells. See more information at http://nanite-systems.com/batteries
- System info: display the output of @about and @power status.
- Disconnect: eject the unit.
Advanced menu features:
- TS reset: resets the _whip kernel module (Companion 8.5 and later)
- SSM reset: resets the core services bus (_bonds), the charging interface (_coil), and the subsystem manager (_power). Use this to resolve issues with stuck subsystems, or subsystems becoming disabled after teleport.
- Clear users: removes all users from the unit and restores it to self ownership. The current owner(s) may be notified. (As of 4.1.1, only the bed's owner may use this.)
- CR reset: resets the device manager (_puppet) completely, re-probing for compatible devices.
- Toggle DDT: enables or disables coilDDT, the controller's built-in debug trace system. This was previously a charger feature.
- Back: returns to the main menu.
Configuration:
The _bed-config notecard inside the bed allows adjusting of lighting color, pose offset, and pose rotation. All poses must be compatible with the same offset and rotation values. As the included animations do not have typical "ground sit" offsets, adding new animations will most likely require removing the current ones and adjusting the included values.
